Isaac Asimov

He is my favorite SF writer.  Sure lots of his stuff is dated.  Lots of it is pretty sexist.  But the underlying sense of wonder and excitement about what science and the future hold is there.  I still read the Foundation trilogy every so often.  It colored my view of the world in ways that even the Bible hasn’t touched.

But his short story, The Last Question, is particuarly interesting considering when he wrote it; when vacuum tubes were the norm.  I often wonder if SF follows computer science or the other way around.  A blogger at MAKE magazine posted the entire short story on the Asimov’s birthday.  Take a read, it is really worth your time.
