Obamamania!

I still haven’t decided who I want to vote for.  By the time I get the chance to vote in the primaries it likely won’t matter…but in the mean time I know a few of the people (which means 1-2 of the 5-6 people who read this blog) have sided with Obama already.  I think it is wonderful that you can make up your mind so quickly.

I guess I am just like a pig in slop since Edwards (angling for VP by dropping out before Super Tuesday), Clinton, and Obama are all great choices, IMHO.  However my basic analysis is that none of them are JFK because:

  1. None of them are bonking Marilyn Monroe (necrophilia is SOOOO not presidential)
  2. JFK wasn’t even JFK.  We just like to romanticize the mid-to-late 1960’s.  Damn baby-boomers ruin everything.

Even so, my Dream Ticket is (in no particular order) Obama/Edwards or Clinton/Edwards.  I recently said, with much animation to a business associate, that I am almost giddy with the thought of 16 years of Democratic rule.  My worst realistic nightmare (beside the utter collapse of the Democrats and Mike Huckabee or (god forbid) Ron Paul gaining the White House) is that Obama actually tries to govern by consensus with Republicans.  (BTW, my spellchecker thinks that a misspelled ‘Rebuplican’ might be ‘Supplicants’…I didn’t know they were building AI into these browsers.)

I don’t want consensus.  The Repubs held both the Congress and White House for over 5 years.  They drove our country right to the cliff and it is still uncertain if we can tip the car back on the road.  I want a filibuster proof majority in the Senate, a veto proof majority in the House, and a Democrat in the White House for 16 years.   I was saying to the Wife this afternoon that my fever dream is that we get sweeping victories in all levels of government and Justices Stevens, Ginsburg, Breyer, and Souter all announce their retirements from the SCOTUS.  Then the newly elected Democrat Administration, riding high on a real mandate from the electorate that Little Bushy can only dream of, nominates and installs to the bench four progressive judges in their early-to-mid 40s.  That’s 30+ years of Progressive judges.  Roe is safe and we can only hope that Scalia enjoys lots of rich pasta and fatty cheeses to try to dull the pain.

Oh, and we get REAL Universal Healthcare, an end to the stupid talk of Social Security being threatened, and a realistic withdraw of troops from Bush’s Own Private Vietnam.  And that’s what I want for the first 100 days.  You think I’m being optimistic (and yes, I was actually called that by a Sunday School Class last week) ?

DAMN STRAIGHT I AM!

I think we have everything to be optimistic about.  Our long national nightmare is almost over…. A new day is dawning in America…there’s got to be another Republican slogan I can steal….

Anyway, this whole post was conceived of after seeing this picture at BoingBoing.  If you are an Obama supporter, you’ll love it.  If you are a Clinton supporter, tell her to get some internet artist supporters.  If you are a Republican, I think you might have gotten lost on the internets.  Go back to RedState.com or someplace and cry in your beer.

Obama - Progress
