Diamonds Are A Guy’s Worst Nightmare
Well, at least it was to me when I was trying to buy the perfect ring back in 1997 for the (now) wife. I took the advice of the rich president of the college I was working at and went to a local (Laurel, MD) jeweler. I have NO IDEA if it was a good deal. I know NOTHING about diamonds then or now. Sure I knew the basics but this wasn’t something I had researched well….which is what the jewelers want….just like the car dealers don’t want people thinking too much.
So where is this rambling leading? Hell, it is leading nowhere…I just like knowing that I wasted a minute of your time reading it. 
Actually, I found this link to a class action lawsuit for anybody buying a diamond between 1994 and 2006. Looks like DeBeers was engaging in price fixing. And now the lawyers are getting their $30+ million, Debeers is avoiding regulators with a slap on the wrist, and consumers might get a couple bucks in early 2015.
